Are we really locked in a room?!?

The door you escape from is locked, however there is an emergency exit in each of our rooms, should the need arise. 

Is it scary?

No. This isn't the movie "Saw." Our goal is not to freak you out or have things jump out of closets. TRAPPED DOWNTOWN is a problem-solving experience meant to challenge your brain. Will you have what it takes to escape?

How long will I be locked in the room?

You will have 60 minutes to break out of your chosen room! If you don't escape in 60 minutes, we let you out. We ask guests to show up 15 minutes prior to your reservation time to get a quick briefing of your task and a rundown of ground rules. When your group is done, we have a photo opportunity for you to document your success or failure!

Why would I want to do this with friends?

Our hands-on problem-solving challenges will create lasting memories for years to come, so put down your technology and get in the game!

Are cell phones allowed in the room?

We strongly discourage cell phones in our rooms. When you check-in we will give you a key to one of our lockers to secure any personal belongings before participating in your TRAPPED challenge.

Are children allowed?

THE MINIMUM AGE FOR ANY GUEST IS 8 YEARS OLD. If you have an infant or toddler, please make arrangements for a babysitter prior to visiting us.

Do I need any special prior puzzle-solving experience to be successful?

No experience is necessary. Your biggest assets will be perseverance, problem-solving, and teamwork!

Is TRAPPED DOWNTOWN good for team-building?

Absolutely! TRAPPED DOWNTOWN is perfect for team-building and leadership training!  Companies/Organizations can bring in an entire staff or small groups during regular business hours or schedule a private event. Private bookings are available by appointment only. Feel free to contact us for more information!

How much does it cost?

We charge $20.95 + tax per person during business hours. Pricing for large groups, special requests, and private events during non-business hours can be found on our Group Info page.

Do I need a reservation to experience TRAPPED DOWNTOWN?

How far in advance should I book?

To reserve your desired date and time, we suggest booking as early as possible.  

How many people can be in the room at a time?

All of our current rooms are designed for groups of 3-6 people. Please let us know if you have more than 6 people in your group so we can assist you in making appropriate arrangements to accommodate everyone.

If I only have 2 or 3 people in my group, will we be placed with strangers to fill the time slot?

No strangers will be placed with you. We do require a minimum payment for 3 people if you are booking as a couple. 

Can I buy a gift certificate?

Yes! We offer gift certificates for 3-6 people. Click here to create yours today.

Can minors (17 and under) participate?

Kids can be some of the best problem solvers and creative thinkers, but we do have some guidelines for their participation. Please refer to information on our Waiver page. 

What if I need to change my reservation? What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel more than 24 hours before your scheduled reservation you will receive a full refund.

If a cancellation occurs within 24 hours of your scheduled reservation, you will not receive a refund.

How do I get to TRAPPED DOWNTOWN?

If you are coming in to Hastings from the NORTH (on Highway 281/Burlington Ave):

  • Drive South on Burlington Ave until 7th St

  • Turn LEFT onto 7th Street and head East until you reach Saint Joseph Ave

  • Turn RIGHT onto Saint Joseph Ave and head South

  • We are located on the West side of N. Saint Joseph Ave on the 200 block

If you are coming in to Hastings from the SOUTH (on Highway 281/Burlington Ave):

  • Drive North on Burlington Ave until 4th St

  • Turn RIGHT on to 4th Street and head East until you reach Saint Joseph Ave

  • Turn RIGHT onto Saint Joseph Ave and head South

  • We are located on the West side of N. Saint Joseph Ave on the 200 block

Where should I park?

TRAPPED DOWNTOWN is located at 229 North Saint Joseph Avenue in downtown Hastings. We are on a south-bound one-way street. You are welcome to park right outside our business. If you struggle to find street parking, there is a free parking lot just north of our building.

What if I/we arrive late?

We ask that you arrive 15 minutes early. You will only have an hour in the room from the reserved start time. If your group needs to start late, you will have less time to break out. To stay on schedule, your time in the room will end exactly 60 minutes after your reserved start time.

Do I need to wear anything special?

Come dressed up or casual. You will not be climbing on or moving heavy objects. Your brain will be getting more exercise than your muscles!
